Base of this system is the geographical position locating of the vehicles by the satellites of the Global Positioning System (GPS). A board computer evaluates the received signals and shows the exact location on a digital map. Combined with local traffic informations and traffic message warnings it offers a route - and time-optimized navigation.

The position data is transmitted to the central office via a mobile communication system (GSM/SMS mobile telephones). This data then can be visualized in form of digital maps. The information about the position and the status of the vehicles enables the scheduler to control the fleet in more detail, minimizing empty load journeys and optimize the overall transportation chain.

The main office can also communicate with the vehicles. Scheduled data or changes can be passed on to the drivers also showing completion status or various parameters of the vehicles can be automatically transferred to the dispatcher.
